Fuji Finepix F30 or Canon SD 700?
I'm looking to buy a camera soon, and have narrowed it down to the Fuji F30 or possibly a Canon SD (630, 700, 550). I'm a bit skeptical of the Fuji since not many places carry it and it uses the xD-Picture Card. I'm a novice photographer and am looking for a great all around camera. Should I go with Canon or Fuji?

- Buy the Canon SD 700, even though xD cards are smaller than sD's.
- I have a Fuji Finepix but an older one that uses a different card. I love the camera, it takes great pictures and is really easy to use. If I buy a new one it will either be a Fuji or the Canon ELPH, which I've also had in the past and love cause it's small enough to fit in your pocket but takes fantastic pictures.
- firstly- these are two excellent choices. The only Canon that can reasonably compare with the Fuji F30 is the SD700IS. They each have their own features. The SD700IS has...IS. i.e. Image stabilization. This allows you to handhold 2-3 stops lower shutter speed. A great feature for low light photos... providing your subject isn't moving. It has excellent image quality and will take reliably good photos. The biggest, and probably only real downside to the camera is its price- about $450. Ouch. The F30 is a truly unique compact digicam. Instead of having image stabilization, it has 2-3 stops better noise performance than ANY digital camera short of a DSLR. So- your ISO 800 shots are nearly noise free, and ISO 1600 is pretty good. So- you get to use 2-3 stop higher shutter speed (4 to 8 times faster) instead. This is even better than IS. Plus, ISO400 and below are silky smooth- just like a DSLR. It also has fast startup, fast focus, and a battery that lasts 580 shots. $150 cheaper and has image quality that's right up there with the Canon. The only downsides to the camera are, perhaps, its shots have a bit more contrast and you may occaisionally see some purple fringing on backlit edges. Between the two- I'd go for the Fuji. But- read the two excellent reviews I've linked for you below. You can't really make a wrong choice here- they are arguably the two best compact digicams on the market today. Each with their own features.
