how could i find the usb software download for a canon elph sd 400 cameral?

1. I don't exactly understand what you mean by "USB software". You can go to Canon.com (see link below) and download the user manuals. There is not really much else you can download. If you have Win XP, then you don't need to download anything because it's simple plug and play USB connectivity. As long as you have a USB port or hub, that is.
2. You should be able ti find the software at cannon`s website. With the model # and ser# it should be no problem. Go to the site and pic downloads.
