Canon EOS 400D problem.?

I have a canon eos 400D (digital rebel xti) and I wasn't paying attention and put the card in the wrong way. Some of the metal pins were bent (which my boyfriend striaghtened) when they were aligned again I put the cf card in and it still said there was a problem with the cf card. The card is fine, but I think one of the pins were pushed into the camera and can't reach the card. Somebody quoted us $400 when it is just $10 to replace. Does anyone know if this is fair. Or if there is a way to fix it without voiding warranty. (warranty won't fix the problem my camera has though).

  1. Contact Garry at garryscamera@yahoo.com. His web page, garryscamera.com, shows a charge of $155 + $8 shipping and one problem listed is "card will not read". Just email him and ask if he can replace the pin or pins. He might take a few days to reply so be patient. Good luck!
  2. I also have the canon 400D have you tried to use a new card?
  3. Part $10 Knowing how to replace the part and having the right tools: $390. Total: $400
  4. I agree $400 is too much, I think you are being overcharged (in my opinion). Try to shop around, and find someone else.
  5. Add another 100$ or so to the 400$ and you get a new 400D already. Look for other shops.
