I'm looking at the Canon SD line.....?
....and wondering what you think of the cameras. I just about bought the SD1000, then a friend talked me out of it, suggesting the A line is better (he was suggesting the A720 IS). Though I really like the Elph look, I'm not adverse to the A line. Another one butted in and said that the Canon SD 750 is better for the price, but if I want to spend a few more shekels I should buy an SD850 IS. I read the reviews, all seem to be great cameras. I'm curious what you think.

- The SD range is Canon's ultra compact and 'fashionable' line of cameras. They are designed as point & shoot type cameras and only have very limited manual control. They look great, have cool features and take very good quality images. The SD1000 and SD750 are basically IDENTICAL (the only real difference being that the SD750 has a larger LCD and it lacks a viewfinder). The SD1000, is a perfectly ok camera for most situations. However, I also prefer a camera to have IS (image stabilization). So, I would recommend either the SD850 IS or the SD950 IS. If you prefer more control over your image taking, such as selecting the aperture and shutter speed etc, then you will need to look at a camera with full manual controls (aperture & shutter priority modes). A720 IS (8MP, 6x optical) or A650 IS (12MP, 6x optical) make a good choice. Regardless of which camera you buy, you will need a fast SD memory card (Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III, highly recommended). Format it before you use it. good luck...
- Ive got the Canon SD 750 where i use to work at we use to have a bunch of SD 1000 so i really think its a piece of crap the SD 750 is greatttt great quality and greeat picture results and the price for it is awesome. Yes the 850 is little bit better but more expensive so if u want a sensible good camera go with the 750.
