Best Compact Digital Camera? Regardless of price. Looking at maybe Canon IXUS 950IS?

Basically we want to purchase a new camera but there are so many brands nowadays. We want to get a new camera which has a good LCD size but reliable. I have a Canon now which we loved but some people say Canon's tech is a bit slow compare to before. What does everyone think?
