- i don't know what kind of settings you have ( i'm a nikon user) but if you have a manual mode you are going to want to control your own shutter speeds, night time pictures need more time so it will let in enough light. also a wide open apeture. sorry i couldn't explain it better but i hope it helps
- i have an olympus and i have a "program" setting, it works better than the night time setting. or you could shoot in all manual mode, i'm not familiar with that camera if you can do that.... but i use the program alot and have some pretty good images from my nite photography. when i shoot manual i narrow the aperture for more depth of field and let the shutter stay open longer. also set the iso at 100 or less.
- if it has manual use the following settings, iso100, F8 @ 4 -30 seconds depending on the nightscape being captured. Use a tripod and fire the shutter by timer method to aviod camera shake. a
- The key thing - other than using a tripod if you have one - is to learn how to access the long shutter times. Look for "Long Shutter Mode" in your advanced manual, because the illustrations may help you. Press the FUNC button Scroll down to the +/- icon for exposure compensation Press the MENU button Use the left/right buttons (the edges of the multifunction button) to scroll from shorter to longer speeds. I am pretty sure that your camera will go up as far as 15 seconds, which is shown as 15" in the display. Since you can not meter for these speeds, you will have to make several tests, altering the shutter speed each time, until you get the results that you want. Here are several examples and you will get the idea if you read my description under each image. http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=7189769@N04&q=canon+AND+lowlight&m=tags
