I want to buy a canon elph. What's the best one? And what does 4.6 - 17.4 mm mean? And 1:2.5 - 8.5... mean

1. 4.6 ~17.4mm is the actual focal length of the lens 1:2.5 ~8.5 are the f/stops, 2.5 @ 4.6mm and f/8.5 @ 17.4mm. You will have to look at the features on all the Canon P&S cameras ... here: .. to decide which is the best. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/
