Compare canon sd 850, sd 870, and sd 1100 camera?

Hello, I want to purchase a new digital camera, and I am having a hard time deciding between these three models, canon powershot sd 850, sd 870, and sd 1100. They seem to be within same price range with mostly similar quality. Please help me compare these three in their detailed features and functions, image quality, IS, and worth of money. please rank the three and elaborate your reasoning. thanks!

  1. SD850 http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=15262 the SD850 isn't a bad camera. it has a 2.5" LCD screen with a view finder. out of the 3 it has the best zoom out of all. SD870 http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=15655 i own this camera so i might be able to tell you more about it than all 3. the difference with this camera out of the 3 is that it has a wide angle lense so you can fit more people or landscaping in a picture. also it has a big LCD screen of 3". however since the LCD is so big its most likely to run out of batteries faster than the other 2. however if you barely even look into the viewfinder than this would be a plus. i have read that this camera also has a noticable barrel distortion problem which means that the corners seem bent in a picture but personally i've never seen it when i use my SD870. also the 870 has a touch wheel so you can scroll the features. SD1100 http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=16347 this one's a newer model for 2008 which (im guessing) would mean it has the most upgraded features. what i like about these cameras are the colors. however this one has the least amount of zoom. however its the smallest out of the 3 so its easier to fit in a pocket (which i don't recomend) or a purse. also the back of the SD1100 is similar to the SD850 because of the 2.5" LCD screen and the viewfinder, but in a smaller camera that resembles a box. so personally, if i had to rank them i would rank 870, 1100, 850. i do suggest though that you go to a local circuit city or best buy because they will have models out for you to look at to see which one you like best. because this is my opinion on these cameras and my opinion could be different from yours. also at the stores they will probably be much more helpful than i can but i hope this helped a tiny bit!
  2. check out this page http://reviews.cnet.com/4321-6501_7-6567910.html?tag=ms i used this page to narrow down which camera. i am going to get the sd870 because of: 1. it's the fastest camera (i HATE missing a shot cuz the camera is too slow!) 2. great movie qualities 3. it improves over the sd 850 in megapixels (i'm pretty sure) and also includes a wider angle lens 4. it also has a larger lcd screen. 5. looks cool! also, look at this page http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html scroll down until you find the "best ultra compact-pocketable" steve has listed the sd870, but not the sd850. the 1100 is listed on top, i'm not sure if that means anything or not. also, the 850 has a view finder... which could be very helpful. however, steve wrote that the lcd on the 870 is fantastic and shouldn't be a problem using in bright sunlight. in the end, i think you can't lose with any of those cameras. unless you shot the same exact scene with the 3 cameras back to back, only then would you notice a difference. even then, i think it would difficult. hope this helps!
