The Monde switch button on my Canon Powershot SD 1000 keeps on getting stuck..Is this common?

The Monde switch button (where you set to take photos,video or view them) on my Canon Powershot SD 1000 keeps on getting stuck.It wont move as smoothly and the camara is just about 1 month old.Is this common?Has it happend to anyone else? any suggestions?this is my 2nd SD1000 camara and it has happend to both camaras.

I think you mean "MODE" switch. Have you used the camera with any sticky substances on your fingers? Have you gotten something sticky on the camera itself? Go to the Canon website and there should be a 1-800 number to call. It could be some sort of defect they have a fix for.
