Is there any way to change the settings of a canon eos xti to have photographs come out like a nikon?
i have always preferred the image quality of the nikons -- the d50, d80, etc. i was given a canon digital rebel eos xti as a gift, though, and i'm wondering if i can change the settings (sharpness, color profile, etc) to have the appearance of images taken with a nikon. this might be completely impossible.

- No, sorry, if you want pictures as good as a Nikon, you'll have to get a Nikon :D
- of course, those you mentioned are changeable but don't forget that lens quality, focal length and shutter speed are important too.the canon xti and nikon d40x or d80 are in the same boat and the difference appears in poster size prints.also the color tone settings and inside software of camera may help too.but more than all of them nikon is something else, never expect nikon quality from any other brands buddy. good luck.
- Read you Canon manual or trade in for the Nikon you prefer. I love my XTi and there is NOTHING wrong with the images at all.
- Let me say first of all, I am a Nikon user. Now, given comparable lenses, a competent photographer and the usual post production, I really REALLY doubt that you could tell any difference between Rebel xti or Nikon D40x images. You may be seeing the limitations of the Canon kit lens. Get a better lens (Canon makes lots of fine glass) and try some more. You can also fiddle with the settings and see what you think. We can't decide which saturation or sharpness level looks best to you. Experiment and decide. Good luck!
- Ummmm, I have seen the answers which probably are appropriate here. 1. The XTi is a nice camera and should capture photos comparable to the Nikon. 2. I would recommend trading the Canon for a Nikon that you would like, or feel captures better photos.
- There is absolutely no difference in image quality between the 2 cameras you listed. The only possible difference is the lens. Buy the equivalent lens to the Nikons you have used and an expert wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Both Canon and Nikon allow you to change the settings on the camera. Read the manual.
