Digital Canon Eos Rebel- How to turn off flash while using macro?
I have a used canon. It automatically turns the flash on whenever I use macro or any other settings. How can I make it so that I can decide when I want my flash to go on or off? I need actual help with this! Please!

- Try this, put an external flash on the hotshoe on top of the camera and dont turn it on. If the camera recognizes it as there but not on it cant pop up the flash. Also if you are refering to the Rebel film camera (I have a Xs) all you have to do is push the shutter button half way and hold, the flash will pop up, push it back down and finish the shot. You would have to do this to every shot but it works (according to my manual anyways). Edit. Another thing you can do is to go into one of the semi-manual modes. This gets trickier but the thing I can suggest doing is 1) first go to macro mode, push the shutter half way and read what the camera says the aperture should be. something like 3.5, 2.8, 8.0 is your aperture (how wide open your lens is). 2) switch to Av or aperture priority mode and use that setting as a starting point. the lower the number the wider the opening, the more light thats let in to the camera, the shallower the depth of field (range of the shot thats in focus, i.e. subject is in focus but the background is blurred = shallow depth of field, everything in focus = long depth of field) its all relative and can be a little daunting at first. Your camera doesnt need to be in macro mode to take macro shots. A macro lens would help but obviously you can focus close enough with what you have.
