How do i use my CANON SPEEDLITE 300EZ FLASH on my Canon eos 350D camera?

I have a Canon Eos 350D. I recently got my flash CANON SPEEDLITE 300EZ FLASH. Not sure on how to use the flash. The flash works manually but when i place it onto my camera, it doesn't seem to work. Are there settings that need to change or is it that the flash isn't compatible with my cam?

2. put it on automatic also, check the menu to see if you have to activate it
