I have the Canon EOS Digital Rebel Xt aand I dont know how to use the manual settings?

I have the Canon EOS Digital Rebel Xt aand I dont know how to use the manual settings on it. Like the buttons with the "A" and the "TV" and stuff. I've checked out the website and I didnt help. I do not have a book of directions to help me out either. If you could try and help explain to me how to use them and what they do thanks :) or send me some helpful websites

1. The owner's manual explains it pretty good. Here's a manual I found that you can download in the sources. I can offer up an explanation if you need more when I have more time to answer. Go to chapter 5 (page 79 of the manual) for the best information. Basically Tv is shutter priority... you set the shutter speed and it adjusts the aperture to get a proper exposure. Av is Aperture priority. You adjust the aperture (so you can control the depth of field) and it adjusts the shutter speed to get a proper exposure. M is manual exposure. You set both aperture and shutter speed to get your desired exposure.
2. Hello, The manual modes on the camera let you do creative things with your photos. The Av setting is for aperture priority. This lets you set the aperture you want. This is helpful for your depth of field. If you are photographing a person against a really busy background you can set the largest aperture your lens allows and this will help to blur the background to make the person pop out. If you are photographing a landscape then you want everything to be in focus. You set a very small aperture to ensure the most depth of field. The camera will then choose the shutter speed that is appropriate for the picture. The Tv setting is for time value or how long the shutter will stay open. This gives you different effects like stopping water in mid-air or blurring water off a waterfall. The camera then chooses the aperture that is appropriate for the picture. The M button lets you choose both the aperture and the shutter speed. This is the ultimate control for your pictures. You should go to your local book store and buy a book for your specific camera. There are many books specifically made for the XT that go button by button and explain how they work and the different effects you can achieve with them.
