Canon Cameras

Whats the difference between Canon EOS 20D, 30D, to 350D?

I'm buying a Canon EOS, but I'm not sure what the differences are from 20D to 350D. Which one would be wisest to invest in?

  2. Here, look for yourself. The 350D is an entry level DSLR. the 20D and 30D cameras were designed for photographers moving over from 35mm Canon EOS systems. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_eos20d%2Ccanon_eos30d%2Ccanon_eos350d&show=all As you can see, they are all older cameras. The latest versions are the 40D and 450D (XSi) Actually as an investment, you can forget about any DSLR bodies ... they are only as good as their technology, so in three or four years, you will want to replace them. Your investment is in the lenses you buy. Those will last for decades ... through at least six or eight DSLR bodies.
  3. The most importnat thing is the fact that the 20/30 D are middle level DSLR cameras while the 350D is an entry-level DSLR. It depends on the budget you have, the experience you have with cameras and also teh purpose: Do you want to go pro, start taking photos calculating your moves or just go to the higher level, having a good camera and train to become pro... In the first case I'd reccommend the 20/30D . Otherwise get the 350D All three of tehm are great cameras and it depends on the photographer of the results. Just forget the number of megapixels,LCS sizes and free memory cards that come with any camera ;)
  4. a rough rule of thumb for Canon SLR cameras as you browse through reviews: numbering tends to work in reverse, so less = better: three numbers (eg, 400D) is the cheaper end, two mid point (eg, 40D) and single pro grade (eg, 1D). here's a good site with side-by-sde reviews of two of the camera models you mentioned. note both now have new model equivalents. (400D & 40D)
