after taking a picture with my canon sd 1000, i press DISP. and something weird happens?
it gives me a zoom out of the image and a rectangle in the middle which i can move around and it makes two of them zooming in the image. what is this? is it just to look at your image in detail? i just take a picture and while it is displaying it for a few seconds i press DISP. (display of course) and it gives me this option does it do anything else than just zoom in certain areas?

- You're correct. You can also zoom in using the same control that lets you zoom as you are shooting your pictures. It is helpful to use to see if your main subject is in focus, to see if someone closed their eyes, and so on. As you said, it lets you examine the image in detail. Don't spend too much time doing this, though, as keeping the LCD display on uses your battery faster. You may have noticed that pressing DISP another time shows you a bunch of information about the individual image, like the ISO or time of day ans other stuff. Pressing it one more time will shut off the LCD.
