What lenses would be best for my Canon EOS Rebel XT?
I am wanting to get more involved in photography and dont have a clue what lenses would be best to make my pictures look more professional. I have a Canon Rebel XT. What ones would be best to start with.

- Any Canon EF or EF-S lens The camera and lens have nothing to do with how professional a photo will look. That has to do with your skills with the camera and your composition of the images. If that were true, all we would have to do is spend $40,000 for a nice "professional" Hasselblad and shoot away. If you shoot landscapes, the Canon 10-22 mm is the best, if you shoot mostly groups and general photography, then the 24-70 mm is the best and if you are into wildlife or sports, the 70-200 mm or a nice 400 mm would be perfect
- Getting a different lens won't make your photos look "more professional", whatever that's supposed to mean. Only YOU can do that. It's not the camera, it's the 10" behind the viewfinder.
- 50mm f/1.8. It's dirt cheap (around $90) and extremely fast. It makes a good portrait lens with the 1.6 crop factor on the Canon Rebel.
- The kit lens, 75-300 mm telephoto lens and a wide angle lens should should be enough. But only you can make your photos look professional by using your eye and knowing how to use the light that is available.
