Can anyone recommend any good Accessories for my Canon EOS 350D?

I have a canon EOS 350D and want to get more accessories / lens etc... for it. Want to make sure that what ever i buy will be compatable with the EOS350D. Any help will be much appreciated.

  1. What do you want to do with your camera? A good lens for basic learning is canons "nifty 50" and it's (relatively) cheap! Look here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-EF-50mm-1-8-Lens/dp/B00005K47X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1221684741&sr=8-1
  2. If you stick with the Canon brand lenses and accessories, they will all utilize the features your fine 350D (and as you upgrade your body every three years or so) has. Many third-party accessories while promise more for less, cannot utilize the proprietary features of your camera. The actual lens lengths you choose have to do with the subjects you want to explore. Landscapes? 10-22 mm, Close-up? One of the four fine Canon macro lenses. Groups to portraits? 24-70 mm f/2.8 Casual sports? 70-300 mm. Serious sports? 400 mm f/2.8 and/or 600 mm f/4 If your budget is stretched? Tokina lenses at present make the best third-party glass. They are the optics company that makes some of the lenses for Pentax and make the Hoya lens filters.
  3. It depends what you want to do with your camera ? Go into your local camera shop and ask for advice, see what kind of lenses are available and the price range, then search for the lenses that take your interest online. Also buy any photographic magazine and look for deals. You don't have to limit yourself to canon lenses, I have Tokina 75- 210 which is a good all round Lens with macro that I use on my eos 350D Word of advice: Be very careful when buying from ebay sometimes what is advertised ain't quite what you get! It's always better to get a look and feel of the Lens you want first
  4. Buy the Canon white lenses such as a 70 to 200 mm f 2.8 zoom or a 400 mm f 4 you will not go far wrong. Stick to Canon lenses and they will serve you best
  5. You can use any lens with the EF or EF-S mounts on your camera. You need to think about what it is, that you want to photograph. A wide angle lens is great for shooting landscapes, and architecture, something like a 10-20mm lens... if you want to shoot wildlife you'll want a longer lens like a 70-300 or 70-200mm lens... go to http://adorama.com or http://bhphotovideo.com you'll find nice search engines for canon mounted lenses. The other answerer mentioned the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 that is an excellent first prime lens, and is a steal at about $100, it's a must in every camera bag... happy shooting
  6. It seems kind of silly to buy accessories for the sake of buying accessories. If you really do need something new for your camera you'll know what you need. Having trouble getting sports shots? Invest in a new telephoto. Can't seem to hold that camera steady? Get a good tripod. Want more contrast in photos of the sky? Get a circular polarizer. You get my point.
