Difference between Canon Rebel XSi and Canon EOS 40D?
I'd like to know the biggest differences between the Canon Rebel XSi and the Canon EOS 40D -- I want to know if it's worth the extra $400-500 to spring for the 40D or should I just go with the Rebel XSi?

- Stick with cheaper camera until you learn the craft of photography, then you will be able to make your own mind up based on experience and needs at the time when you come to replace it. You will be able to achieve all you need without spending too much money. The better investment will be in a good lens. Regards
- Check out dpreview to study both cameras closely, then go hold both of them in a store. The 40 D is the better camera, but the XSi is wonderful for a beginner.
- The biggest difference is that the rebel XSI is an entry level digital SLR and the Canon eos 40d is a Semi-Professional model. The Canon eos 40d has a weatherproof Magnesium Alloy body, and the Rebel has a ' cheap ' Textured plastic body- which makes it less durable. Don't be too excited with the Rebel XSi's 12 megapixels. Image quality isn't based on megapixels alone, that just allows you to print your images to a slightly larger size- that's it. The 40d is just about the same. Both are great cameras, but the 40d's image quality will be more professional, and more impressive to your personally. I've handled both of these cameras, the XSI is a little shrimp in size. The 40d is much much larger. If you go to a local Best Buy, you can hold them both, and take photographs with them. You have to hold it in your hand. The 40d is Better.
- What Nathan Said- He's Right.
